Initial research Proposal

Keira lee

Notably, writing my Initial Research Proposal was a great way to help me fulfill some important course objectives such as research skills and critical thinking by developing an understanding of how to plan your own research project. My key learning was how to shape a focused research topic and question, despite needing to change it later. First used something called embodied literacy to begin that understanding of how literacy could be much more than just reading and writing in body movement (in dance for this purpose). This tied another outcome recognizing literacy as a socially and culturally constructed phenomenon. Perhaps I used Andrea Fishman and Madeline Halvey as scholarly sources to strengthen my ability to apply their ideas back to my examples in a more concrete way when engaging with an academic conversation. One more vital outcome was knowing how to plan research methods. Through suggesting observation and interviews, I learned effective means for collecting qualitative data and how different methods complement a research question. This assignment, although I switched my topic later, was very good in understanding well what is a realistic and an effective method. Overall, this proposal developed my skills in reading research critically, aligning myself with personal experience to the academic ideas behind these studies and set me up for higher-level academic research writing for my final project.
