Literature Review

Writing this literature review allowed me to accomplish some of the most important course outcomes, specifically research, organization and critical thinking. A large outcome I walked away with was the ability to analyze and synthesize several academic sources rather than provide a summary. My paper clustered research themes such as mental health and communication, and positive impacts; this demonstrated how disparate studies relate to one another. Another important thing to take away from ENC 1102 is the organization of ideas in a clear and logical way, which helped me with my communication centered activities as well since I know how to structure every corresponding idea in a pleasing manner. On top of that, MLA formatting with citations allowed me to gain a greater understanding in formal writing. One key takeaway was on spaces in the research as there is not enough studies on teenagers themselves and how they spend their time on social media. This made me see how research builds on top of existing knowledge. In conclusion, this task has helped to develop my academic style of writing and has set me up for my final research project.
